A live-streamed book presentation titled: “Azerbaijan: Ethnicity and the Struggle for Power in Iran” with the participation of Prof. Dr. Touraj Atabaki will be held on 2 October 2021, at 4 pm (GMT +3)

Touraj Atabaki provides a balanced narrative for the Azerbaijani autonomy movement in his book. He firstly discusses the historical background and shifts in the demographical structure of the region. Then, he focuses on the Constitutional period. Atabaki considers this period as a turning point in the making of modern Azerbaijani identity. Afterwards, he deals with the Khiabani's movement, which was the first concrete manifestation of autonomy inclination. Lastly, he elaborates on the Azerbaijan Democrat Party and one-year experience of autonomy in the region between 1945 and 1946.
