Koç received his BA degree in Political Science at the Imam Khomeini International University in Qazvin, Iran. He then joined Tehran University where he got his MA degree in the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences with his thesis titled “Changing State-Society Relations in Post-Revolutionary Iran”. He received his Ph.D. degree in Persian Language and Literature at a joint program of Ankara University and Kırıkkale University in Türkiye. Apart from his advanced Persian skills, Koç has an intermediate knowledge of English and Arabic. His research interests include modern Iranian society, the constitutional structure of the Islamic Republic of Iran as well as domestic developments in this country.
